Welcome to Community Amager
Building bridges and dialogue between people of different backgrounds
Our office is open Mon-Fri 10 am to 3 pm
The purpose of Community Amager is to be a meeting place, where people and communities can meet across ethnical, cultural, religious and social differences in an atmosphere of respect and understanding. Community Amager wants to be a part of the local community and offer a helping hand in different ways.
Community Amager is a project within The Danish Lutheran Church, and the groups we especially attend to are immigrants, both of Christian and non-Christian background, as well as Danes that are not baptized. The daily work is led by two pastors and an intercultural secretary together with a group of volunteers. Community Amager's office is open on weekdays 10 am. to 3 pm.
Just drop by - we love to see new faces!
Need help with Danish?
Is it grammar, pronunciation or vocabulary you want to train, or do you want to learn conversation? Maybe you need help with your homework or cannot understand a letter you received from the municipality. Community Amager has several volunteers, who can help you. Come by our office or contact us for an appointment.
First Sunday of the month at 2 pm.
in Nathanael's Church
(NB! from March 2020 we will begin at 5 pm.)
We sing Danish and international hymns, contemporary worship music as well as gospel. Within the course of the service there is a period of silence and contemplation, where you can move around in the church, light a candle or write a prayer on a piece of paper, which will later on be read aloud and prayed for.
Join us for coffee/tea in the Parish House next door after the service!
Weekly meetings of prayer and bridge building
Mahabba helps everyday Christians engage positively with Muslims, by facilitating opportunities to pray; increasing understanding of Muslims and Islam; and equipping believers to share Jesus with Muslims locally.
Community Amager has weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 7 pm.
Contact us for more info.
The meetings are primarily in Danish.
We also offer:
Conversation and counseling:
You can meet with a pastor in private to talk about matters that disturb or concern you or about faith.
Baptism for adults:
We offer baptism classes or confirmation for adults.
"Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127:1)
